JonathanJ Posted December 16, 2024 Share #1 Posted December 16, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am planning a trip to Panama in January, and I was hoping to take my Q3. This will be my first time the camera will be in a hot, humid environment. Are there any precautions I should take? Is it just asking for trouble? Thanks! Advertisement Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Hi JonathanJ, Take a look here Q3 in Humidity. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jbdumont Posted December 17, 2024 Share #2 Posted December 17, 2024 Same experience here. I spent 3 weeks in Malaysian humidity this summer with my Q2. Had the same fogging issue one morning, which cleared after 10 minutes, and for the rest never had the slightest problem with humidity, even under torrential rain. As mentioned by @AussieQ, the Qs are built for this.

I was in South Korea in August and it was stinking hot and humidity levels were insanely high. The first morning I ventured out of my reverse cycle air conditioned room my Q3 lens fogged up.In about 10mins it cleared and oddly, though I still used aircon each night in room, the lens never fogged up ever again. At times it was pouring rain and I still kept the Q3 around my neck and yes it got very wet, but its built for it. You will be fine. Thanks! I really appreciate it.

stuny Posted December 17, 2024 Share #5 Posted December 17, 2024 I've had my original Q for 7 years and often had it in sticky topics. No issues at all.

PhotoCruiser Posted January 18 Share #7 Posted January 18 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well you probably are already back, but it may matter to someone else. I had my Q2 twice in Costa Rica and Panama and had no issues at all, not even fogging. She will fog if she is too cold and then brought out to the hot and humidity condenses so i suggest to keep A/C temperature in your room/car as high as possible and/or store the camera in fluffy towels or a cooler to reduce that she get cold and will fog up.
