(When/How)Do You Use Super Wide Angle Lens (20mm/eq or Wider)

I have TL 11-23mm (16~35mm/eq), but I found I actually used it mostly in the 16~23mm (24~35mm/eq) range. The super wide is not quite useful as I thought it would be. The usage is almost always in shooting architecture inside, sometimes in shooting tall architecture when I cannot stand far enough.

Do you use super wide angle lenses? when?

Shooting in layers/framing, eg a church though a gate, an event through layers of people doing something interesting. Just using it to capture a wide scene is often dull unless there is a marked contrast in colour/tone/drama.

Sound a universal good advice for any photography.
