I'd be glad if someone shared what I'm missing out on by neglecting the app on my phone. For me the new feature is absolutely fantastic. In particular it's proven useful when traveling with my family the last week - they invariably want to see the photos I have made, and now, rather then clenching my teeth as I hand them my camera, hoping they don't drop it, I simply give them my phone instead  But also at the end of the day or when stopping for lunch, I can review my images without having to use my camera. I'll not edit anything on the phone - that task is reserved for my computer and Lightroom - but having a way to quickly review them, or even share them with friends or on social media during the trip, is great! 8
Advertisement Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Hi DigitalHeMan, Take a look here M11/M11-P/M11-D/M11-M: Firmware update v.2.2.0 brings background transfer with Leica FOTOS. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Derbyshire Man Posted December 29, 2024 Share #162  Posted December 29, 2024 I also do this batch phone review in the field at an opportune moment with the M11D. I've not done it yet but if shooting portraits indoors/available light, having it drop the images onto the iPad pro would also be helpful for a discussion with the sitter regarding which images to take forward without being fully tethered.

If I am doing serious photography, I edit the DNGs at home on a big screen calmly. But imagine you are out with the kids at the park and take a nice snapshot you wish to message quickly to the grandparents. With this feature, you can set the camera up to transfer a small jpeg if you mark the image as a favorite (the most logical setup for this I find) and have the image on your phone in a resolution and quality more than enough to text to the grandparents. I think it would be a great feature on the Q3.

To send a picture or two from a news case is a thing you must do nowadays in a hurry so it helps.
Wandering Photographer Posted January 4 Share #166 Â Posted January 4 Has anyone noticed corrupt DNG files. I was importing a large group into Lightroom and noticed a fair number were flagged as corrupt. I saved the list and will track them down and let you know what I find,

I have tried this with no success yet: - checked that the M11 is now on firmware v 2.2 - checked that the phone (Android v15) Leica Fotos app is updated v5.0 - removed the M11 from my bluetooth devices on my phone - removed the M11 from the camera devices on the Leica app (and there are no other devices) - uninstalled and reinstalled the Leica app to start over - while installing, I gave the app access to geolocation and files - added the camera back onto the app In the "···" menu I still only see: - Date and Time syncing - geotagging - remove camera I am currently traveling and not in the US. Does geo location have anything to do with this? Thank you again  If anyone else is wondering why their Android phone is not seeing background transfer, I have confirmed with Leica, this is for iOS only right now. It is working as intended. Unfortunately that was not clear toe and I spent a lot of time trouble shooting and folks her spent time trying to help me. Thanks again, I'm sure it will come in an update.
Knorp Posted January 11 Share #169  Posted January 11 (edited) To my great surprise I had two flipped photos today. Only the two first shots of the day, the others were fine. the two photos show up correctly in Review, but flipped after being imported. I never experienced something like this before with my M11-P (bought March 2024 with initial firmware v2.0.1). Currently running firmware v2.2.0 and Capture One Pro v16.5.3.1 Oh well, I guess there's a first time for everything ... Wandering Photographer Posted January 12 Share #170 Â Posted January 12 It would be nice if Leica would let us know if they are working on the bugs we have identified. I keep looking for a FOTOS update in the hopes there might be a fix the bugs I have identified.

Leica tends to do 2 updates a year and if you have more bugs, you will have to wait 6-12 months for it to be fixed. The image flipped is a but that few of us got already! Some of the DNG files downloaded with FOTOS from my M11 to my iPad Pro and my iPhone 12 Pro Max show up in the thumbnails but when I try to view them, they show briefly and then go black. The camera information shows in FOTOS but not the image. I can bring them up in Lightroom but they flash onto the screen and then turn black in FOTOS. This only happens for some of the DNG files downloaded. I also have an M10-R and all of the DNG files display fine. It only seems to happen with some M11 DNG files. I ask because the images that I had saved in the Fotos app before the update, from my M11-P and M11-D have this problem where as the ones from my M11-mono do not have this problem. I was wondering if it has something to do with content credentials.
RobW0 Posted January 12 Share #177  Posted January 12 Just tried a new file from the M11-mono and it seems to have the same problem also. Old files from the mono still work fine however. I don't normally download files into the Fotos apps. I just use the Fotos app to transfer files to an SSD drive so not a big deal for me. It is strange behavior.

Any way as I mentioned, I don't have that problem with photos downloaded from my M10-R. It is irritating to say the least.

If I delete the FOTOS app, won't i lose the data associated with it, i.e. the images I would like to be able to view with FOTOS, but can't view now..
