wilfredo Posted December 7, 2024 Share #1 Posted December 7, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently purchased an Epson P-900 printer to replace my old Epson 3880 printer. I moved to Europe from the U.S. and didn’t ship the old printer because EU electrical currents are 230 volts, not 120V. I’m happy with the printer but concerned about how robust it is. A friend with the same printer had to take it in for repair after only a little over a year using it. The authorized Epson repair person fixed the problem, and told him it will probably fail again in a few months due to cheap plastic parts. I’m wondering if anyone has had issues with later Epson printers and switched over to Canon printers because they are more robust, meaning they are built with metal parts that last longer? I’m anticipating I may be having the same issue in the future as my friend, which would be a shame. I’ve been using Epson Photo printers for almost two decades and sorry to learn they are no longer as robust as they used to be. Cheers!
Advertisement Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Hi wilfredo, Take a look here Epson P-900. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
holgerf Posted December 7, 2024 Share #2 Posted December 7, 2024 Bought it three years ago, no problem so far. The Canon may be more robust, but the weight is awful! Cheers Holger
pedaes Posted December 7, 2024 Share #3 Posted December 7, 2024 I have P700 and it is 100% fine. Think they are a lot more robust than the paper out tray would suggest!
wilfredo Posted December 8, 2024 Author Share #4 Posted December 8, 2024 Thank you for the above comments. I hope none of us run into the same issue as my buddy.
otto.f Posted December 8, 2024 Share #5 Posted December 8, 2024 (edited) I took the same road as OP, but I bought the 900 quite soon after it came on the market. I had a repair last year, but it was entirely my fault, a pushpin was fallen in the machine which led to obstruction. I was actually quite surprised that it could be repaired at all. Otherwise I did not have any problems. Especially when you don't print very much, this machine is a big step forward compared to the 3880. My inks are always fresh now. I'm loving the IQ I'm getting from this printer.
Chris W Posted March 30 Share #7 Posted March 30 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've had a P600 for quite a few years. Runs well, no issues at all. I don't use it weekly, but still, the prints it produces are very good, fantastic.
