During our last cosplay shoot, Lilli asked if we could also do some lingerie style portraits. Even though I do a lot of portraits, I have little experience in the nude/boudoir area. So I kinda overcomensated with the use of a lot of gear ...

While I still like what we got, I'd prefer a more subtle approach with the light just outlining the body. I'll have to look into that, because I couldn't get it the way I wanted on the spot and fell back to what I knew. Lilli loves the shots, so that all right, but we want to do another shoot like this and I want to get it right then.

I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on what we got and will be happy with an constructive criticism or advise what to do differently next time.

I don't have any constructive criticism, but I prefer your 'Pole Dance' shots. They look as if you knew what you were trying to do with the poses, light and shade; here it looks as if you are unsure, and the model has fallen back on standard model shoot poses. Perhaps it's that her poses don't relate to the smoke machine? Are the 'barbed wire' skin motifs relevant or did she just happen to be wearing them? Sorry I don't have suggestions on what the poses should have been! I have often been in a similar situation, presented with all the elements to make good images with someone, but not been sure how to put them all together.

You hit the nail on the head, this is pretty much what happend. The pole shots, too, were something I never did before, but I did a bunch of research in advance, so I had some sort of plan.

The idea for these shots here came from the model on the spot, so we both were somewhat unprepared and we probably both fell back on what we knew.

(The barb wire motifs and wig are a remnant of the cosplay shoot that was the actual plan for the day.)
