pippy Posted November 17 Share #424 Posted November 17 (edited) 46 / 52. Yet another view of the re-purposed Battersea Power Station, South Bank of the Thames, London M Monochrom, 28mm Elmarit asph v1, Red filter; Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Having reviewed numerous snaps from trips I have made to this site it would seem that I habitually gravitate to (almost!) this same spot on 'Electric Boulevard' when I visit the area. Sometimes I have been further along the walkway into the shot and sometimes I'm snapping from further back but I definitely seem to like how the chimney and its 'base' is positioned when viewed along this line-of-sight. Often, of course, there are lenses of different focal-lengths being enjoyed and whilst the majority of pics will be seen in monochrome a few have been left in colour so not all images taken from here look the same. Different time-of-day and weather-conditions add a little bit of variation / interest as well. This repeated pattern of subconcious behaviour conjures up notions of Monet and his fascination with Rouen Cathedral. Most odd. Then again; perhaps I feel the need for a 'Project' coming on!......😸...... Philip. Well, Pippy, this line of sight—with all its different shapes and structures offers a compelling aesthetic visual presentation of an unusual ensemble: the cubist cubicles of the apartment block on the right and the organic curve of the canopy on the left framing the classical fluting of the industrial chimney in the center—pretty amazing. The delicate, almost poetic string of lights contrasts with the brutalist frame—and the person on the bicycle looks a bit puzzled in the middle of it all. A great picture ! ( Aside from that, I often feel the same way myself. On my hikes I frequently notice that I stop at the same spots and take “the same” picture again. I then tell myself: but not yet with this camera, not with this film, and not with this light—something is always different. And sometimes the magic happens, and one of those almost identical images stands out in a positive way.) Thank you for the kind comment, Kl@us; I do appreciate it. I have to say that, in terms of architecture, the area around the old Power Station is truly a fascinating place to visit. Philip.
