No need to unpack the ASPH APO FLE lenses then?

I have just resorted to using google and can honestly say that I've never, in all my life, shot any images such as those I've seen. Well; not intentionally nor whilst sober at any rate...

Might be interesting to try. Time, I suppose, Will Tell.

Philip.

Ha! I guess I will do most with the Q due its weight. The SL is rather heavy with the 90-280 attached. Lets see what 52 weeks of practicing will bring…

Funny guy 😎

Somehow, I get a smoother movement with a Q. I guess weight has to do something with it. But, to be honest, every time I pick up the 90-280, it feels hefty.

😮

OK; I'm completely new to this concept of, intentionally, taking out of focus and/or blurry photographs but why are you contemplating using a 90-280?......I am genuinely curious.

I was photographing a sunset from my balcony, so I thought I give it a try. Bit they turned out bad, as the combo was to heavy for a nice short swing. I tried the same scene with the Q and I preferred those.

Having a "purpose" (or push) to go out taking photographs is a good thing for me.

That's why I always try to go out and take some dedicated photos for the "Barnack's Montly" as run by farnz in addition to trawling to my archive.

So I'll start doing that on a weekly basis dedicating one of the entries to my "52 in 2025" project

Only thing I don't know yet is if I just "dedicate" one entry in the Barnack's Challenge by mentioning it in the post or if it needs to be posted elsewhere on the forum as well.

How/where does everybody post their photo's of their 365/52 project?

As I don’t mind double posting, I will post them here and f.e. In the Q threads. Advantage of posting here is that all will be in one place.

I'm slightly confused...

Do we post any image which we like that has been taken during each week or are we shooting to a brief in a way similar to Farnz' (excellent) 'Monthly Challenge'?

I ask this because in post #15 Olaf wrote this;

On 1/1/2025 at 6:55 PM, Olaf_ZG said:

In the end I decided for a project 52......The theme will be ICM (in camera movement), but not solely sooc, so it might take a while to finish an image. So instead of shooting weekly, my aim is to create one image per week...

If we are shooting to a theme will the theme change from one week to the next or will we be shooting'ICM' for the whole year?

Anyhow; here's my submission for 'Project 52 : 2025 Week 01'.

It is titled "Two Bookshelves : 17515" and was taken (clearly!) with my M-D Typ-262 & 35mm Summilux v2;

Fun shooting this with the M-D; I had no idea what it would look like until it was processed-out - and Post-Prod work was almost non-existent!......😸......

Probably I’ll step out, sorry for misunderstanding.

I don't think there is a misunderstanding, Olaf's theme is ICM but as far as I understood everybody is able to choose their own theme or no theme at all and just show a weekly photo for every week (I don't think anybody committed for the daily photo). I choose my "new photo's taken for farnz's challenge" as my theme and when I suggested that here earlier Olaf didn't object to it.

@Olaf_ZG, pls. chime in in case I have misunderstood the requirements for this 365/52 challenge. In case you expect mandatory ICM I'll probably bow out as well.

I didn't take a Leica out on my weekly photowalk this week but I did grab a shot in the week with my D-Lux Typ109 so here it is.

Me too so I'd be grateful for clarification too @Olaf_ZG please.

Me too.

Hopefully it is simply ME who has misunderstood; I'm on a bit of medication at the mo' so my head is slightly full of cotton wool!

😸

As mentioned in an earlier post I had never even heard of 'ICM' until the other day but, having had a peek on the www subsequent to the revelation, it does seem to be a popular theme with many photographers. One Lives and Learns!

Apologies for being about to go off at a tangent already (sort-of?)......but I have been navel-gazing musing on some aspects of the pic(s) taken this morning......

As mentioned when I posted my submission a wee while earlier I had no real idea how any images I snapped for the project would look until they were downloaded. As the whole concept was Terra Incognito for me I took a few variations (9 to be specific) of the same subject-matter where varying amounts of movement - in terms of direction & arm-speed - were used. Four pics were taken with movement on the vertical plane. Another four - as per the one selected - where the movement was roughly at 45 degrees (one way or the other). One more where movement was rotational around a central axis.

Of the nine shot five were discounted instantly; not enough movement in the majority and, in the case of the 'Rotational' it just didn't work at all. Of the others two each were Vertical and 45 degrees (one each way) and I could have ended up using any of the 4 of them. They all had their own plus / minus points. In the end the choice came down to one of two; one 'vertical' and the one selected.

Looking at some of the others there was something which struck a chord in the back of my mind and then it clicked. Hence this 'post-script'.

In the course of my day-job one item which was photographed last October was a watercolour (gouache?) painting by Bridget Riley. Out of curiosity I have looked-out the final image of that painting. OK; the colours / tones / contrasts are different but, still, there is yet quite a few similarities. I will post it along with one of the other 'possibles' from this morning simply because, unlike the one selected, the 'movement' is in a similar direction;

Mine (as if you couldn't tell...😸...);

There was a good article in LFI a couple of years back In LFI showing the ICM photos of the Earl of March (now Duke of Richmond - owner of the Goodwood estate), who was a professional photographer at some time. It featured trees.

Well done, ICM can be effective - and Pippy's effort above ain't bad!

At all. MY theme will be ICM. I want to create 52 images with this. You can choose whatever you like, as long as you make/create one image a week.

As I photograph a lot, I want my 52 project to have a theme, so I work weekly on that to push myself for something I am not doing regularly.
