Hi,

Seeking advice from this channel which is the best focusing screen for general photography? Currently I am using my R6.2 for traveling. Most of the time it is with my R 28mm and 35-70mm f4.  My current focusing screen is the one with micro prism in the middle. In good daylight it is easy for me to focus accurately but I find it a bit difficult in dimmer light. Would the standard screen with split image in the middle a better option for general use?

Thanks.

The real solution is, Try the other screen. See if it suits your style/eyes. No one else can answer that for you. Having the extra screen is simply another string to your bow.

I was trained focusing with a plain ground glass/focusing screen on movie cameras. That‘s why I prefer the R system’s repro focusing screen that comes without prisms but shows a fine grid that helps keep the horizon straight, similar to what movie camera have to indicate what’s outside the frame.
