HuntingSand Posted November 18, 2024 Share #1 Â Posted November 18, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am looking to find out the "operating" temperature of Agfa Isopan and Plena films from the 1930s. These were used by German aviators flying in rather extreme conditions (plus/minus 30 degrees C). Any spec sheets one might find somewhere? I'd be grateful for any hints. Thank you. Advertisement Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 Hi HuntingSand, Take a look here Old b/w film temperature tolerances?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
TomB_tx Posted November 18, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted November 18, 2024 I don't know about those films, but I've used common Kodak B&W films at -20F with no problems.
HuntingSand Posted November 19, 2024 Author Share #3 Â Posted November 19, 2024 Thanks all for the interest and comments (that roll of my grandfather's film yielded intriguing results!). I have a roll of Leverkusen Isopan from 1939 coming on Wednesday, but I don't think it says on the packaging what the temperature envelope is. Am trying to recreate (or, rather: re-imagine) certain conditions those aviators faced in the open cockpit of a Junkers W33 or in the unheated and unpressurized cabin of a W52.
