How many would think a bit less of their Leica product if it didn't come with the box and the show and the marketing? .....   Not to degrade, but I know that when looking at used Leica's or really, any gear....the original packaging is important but in Leica's case, the box and the hype of it add another element.

For me, the box is significant with regard to buying second-hand items. A carefully retained box indicates a degree of care of ownership, which might well transfer across to care for the item itself. As for the hype associated with the packaging, doubtless it is there (the M240 packaging was surely a step too far) but for myself, I don't get a kick out of it. (Champagne is another matter.)

I agree with this....when buying second hand optics I always look for the box for that does imply in my mind, that the owner took care of it more so than usual. I am not aware of the M240 box 🙂

Now...speaking of....take a gander at this artistic unboxing....
