redrocksjoe Posted November 11, 2024 Share #1  Posted November 11, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey All - I was wondering how people are carrying the 150-600 and SL? I will just carry it and the lens on my bike cruising for birds and other wildlife.  thanks! -Joe
Advertisement Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Hi redrocksjoe, Take a look here Bag for SL3 and Sigma 150-600.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Leicalook Posted November 11, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted November 11, 2024 Loving bike, SL3, 150-600 I see the only solution in something like that... https://www.ortlieb.com/de_en/back-roller-high-vis+F5504 Sure you need some towels to wrap everything carefully. Or you choose a rucksack from Lowepro.
redrocksjoe Posted November 11, 2024 Author Share #3  Posted November 11, 2024 Thanks @Leicalook, I commuted for years with an Ortieb laptop bag, which would probably fit perfectly. But alas the bike i have hear has no way to attach a rack. I was thinking of the minimalist rucksack I could use or one of those "holsters" that Think Tank or Lowe Pro makes. Ortlieb makes great bags, for a few years when I had my OMD I used the handlebar bag with camera insert for snow biking. -Joe
LeicaRFan Posted November 11, 2024 Share #4 Â Posted November 11, 2024 Hello Joe, I have a Lowe Pro 500 AW II for my SL equipment. Look at koenig lenspacker, here the link : https://www.koenig-photobags.de/lenspacker0-5/, they also make holdings for a bike. The lenspacker is modular, you also use ist with a tripod holder and little bags for more equiment. I have the lenspacker 2 for my old Leica Apo Telyt R 2,8 /400 it is great, but I not use it with a bike. My Sigma 150-600 it's in the Lowe Po AW II, with other SL Optics. redrocksjoe Posted November 13, 2024 Author Share #5  Posted November 13, 2024 The 150-600 arrived and I used my Rickshaw Bagworks Medium Zero bag  https://www.rickshawbags.com/medium-zero-messenger?Add-Ons= with an Ape Case Cubeze 37 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009GA6CAW that I used for carrying the SL3 and lenses. It works! I don't use the hood on the 150-1600 or that might be a tight fit. But I will still probably look for a backpack to carry it in, realistically this set up is fine. Welcome, dear visitor! Biotar Posted November 13, 2024 Share #6 Â Posted November 13, 2024 I always avoid putting cameras and lenses that have an IS on the shaken bike.

Totally agree @Biotar!  I carry it on my back, it is just hanging on the bike for the photo. -Joe
redrocksjoe Posted November 24, 2024 Author Share #8  Posted November 24, 2024 I have found the perfect bag for the Leica SL3 and the Sigma 150-600 - The Thinktank Backlight Sprint https://www.thinktankphoto.com/products/backlight-sprint . It fits the lens mounted, and has room for other lenses. Plus it is absolutely comfortable on your back. Welcome, dear visitor! jaapv Posted November 24, 2024 Share #9  Posted November 24, 2024 But where would I put my 70-200, which is the natural companion of the 150-600? And where is the hood?

You could move the dividers and fit a hood, but I never use hoods.  -Joe
lightsourcekauai Posted December 26, 2024 Share #11  Posted December 26, 2024 I use various Fstop bags in the “mountain series” and have been very happy with them for many years. They also have an “urban” line that might suit bike riding. I think I saw a shoulder bag if not a messenger type bag similar to an Ortlieb dry bag. Here’s their website. https://fstopgear.com/camera-bags/?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAC2qqex2_J-JFO0SfSmjU2Ltir6cP&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI2uWK5ejFigMVS5XuAR0EdDThEAAYASAAEgKwZ_D_BwE
