Orson Posted November 6, 2024 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there a difference in rendering of the M 50 summilux and SL 50 summilux on the SL3? Thanks
Advertisement Posted November 6, 2024 Posted November 6, 2024 Hi Orson, Take a look here 50 summilux lenses on SL3. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
IP54 Posted November 8, 2024 Share #2 Posted November 8, 2024 Yes, they both share the same overall rendering, and typical "leica glow", sort of diffusion of the highlights in the transition zone, but the SL version is wider, sharper, has no onion rings in the bokeh (that the M version has), and les chromatic aberrations. On the other side, that's not the same weight...
Leicaboy Norway Posted December 10, 2024 Share #3 Posted December 10, 2024 I've always heard the 50 summilix asph has "Apo-build" or something along those lines. The SL version has the same? For me personally I have never considered the SL version due to the size but love my M version. But never say never
Eoin Posted December 20, 2024 Share #4 Posted December 20, 2024 Both are beautiful lenses, on a SL2, they are more alike than different and those differences are subtle at best. I run them as different systems and on their series cameras. But the Lux M 50 on the SL makes for a relatively small setup compared to the enormous native Lux.
