contessa Posted November 6, 2024 Share #1 Â Posted November 6, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I heared that PAMOO attachments came in 2 versions. That is, the earlier had a mirror installed within, while the newer had a prism. Â 1. Does the prism provide correct 'handedness' of image? In other words, when one tries to read a book through a PAMOO, would the letters not be inverted left to right? 2. Is there a way to identify older, mirror installed examples against the newer ones? luigi bertolotti Posted November 6, 2024 Share #2  Posted November 6, 2024 (edited) Yes, the prism is made exactly for providing laterally correct image. About an older version with laterally reversed image (as for docs, it seems it was a "first version"... but year of intro was 1940, critical timing...) it seems indeed to exist, and some years ago a forum member wrote it had one (post #9), appatently with no markings on the front surface :  The variants in the front writing are also shown here : http://www.wetzlar-historica-italia.it/visoriviso.html with no infos about the question mirror vs. prism (but note that the unmarked  variant has a slightly different shape , which makes to think of a different inner part) . The variant with "wetzlar" and "germany" in capital is imho a typical postwar style, probably they are the last ones.  Edited November 6, 2024 by luigi bertolotti

Very interesting... does it reverse right/left ? I bet it does... 😉 (also, think that it has the round writing along the eyepiece) Edited November 7, 2024 by luigi bertolotti
