bherman01545 Posted November 3, 2024 Share #1 Â Posted November 3, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a Leica UVa filter ref: 13386 and noticed that the glass is a tiny bit loose. If I tap the filter I can hear it rattle around a bit and also noticed it when I was cleaning it. Not like super loose, but I can hear it moving around. Is this normal? The B+W and Heliopan filters have a more precise brass mount and I believe that there is a retaining ring which is tightened down around the glass to keep it tight and flat. Are the Leica filters simply expensive and over-hyped? -Brad

It's generally assumed that Leica outsources them to one of the major filter manufacturers, and they are 2-3x the price of comparable high quality filters, so...
