I have Q3 28 + 43, however C1 is making the 43mm look flat, lacking colour and lack lusture.  28mm they look very nice, bright, full of colour without editing at this point.

Looking at the base characteristics in C1

  • 28mm  - LQ3 Pro Standard & Curve Auto (this is what it does automatically)
  • 43mm  - DNG Neutral File Neutral & Curve DNG Standard

I have viewed the RAW (I only shoot RAW) in MAC preview and colour is better than the import, still not what I would call, hey blow me away :)  but better than viewing in C1.

Do we think C1 just have not got a profile sorted for the 43mm ?

I will be honest, I am not loving the 43 purely on the above basis, I feel quite depressed on what I am seeing.  If its just C1 have not got a profile there is hope of when they get their act together !

Thanks for feedback.

Gill

I suspect that there is just no profile yet, or if there is you haven't updated to get it.  Patience!

I have been in this postion before with Fuji camera's and no profile assigned on release so I feel this is what is happening, but some reassurance from others using it with the 43mm will help 😀

I can then relax instead of feeling, what have I done buying the 43mm and not wanting to even take photo's with it.

Just check if you have version 16.4.6 installed. Capture One website says in the release notes for this version that it supports the Q3 43 files and tethered shooting.

Ah ok, I am not on that version as my perpectual licsene is 1 down from this.  Was holding off updating until black friday deals.  Will get a friend to download latest version free trial and try.

Thanks very much 🙂  I did read the notes before but must have overlooked this.

I am having the same problem with Photoshop 2024 and the older DNG converter - the white balance is off and the images appear lifeless, processing is a chore, vey often with no satisfying result. It is definitely a converter problem. Even worse - I no longer get the exif information. I will have to update both my OS (including a new computer) and the software. Strangely the imported DNGs appear quite attractive and practically very similar to the JPGs in my old C1 version 9 and remain so when  exported to Photoshop as TIFFs. There is just a quantum of excellence missing. So that gut feeling when purchasing the Q 43 was proved right. This is getting very expensive.

I am having problems tethering my Q3 with Capture One to a MacBook. I think I am missing some settings and don't know whether to use Mass Storage, PTP or Apple MFi when plugging in the USB C..has anyone successfully tethered a Q3 to C1. Thanks.
