Advertisement Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Hi fortressdvd, Take a look here film in flights. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stevem7 Posted August 27, 2006 Share #2 Posted August 27, 2006 I just flew twicw, and brought 10 rolls of 400 speed film. Went through Xray and all was fine and dandy and I did not use any kind of protection for the film. They were just sitting in my bag. No problems unless it gets packed and put in the cargo area, then I believe it will kill the film. Take it on the flight with you and you will be fine up to 800speed - ISO1600 may have problems. cbretteville Posted August 27, 2006 Share #3 Posted August 27, 2006 Bring them as carry on and you'll have nothing to worry about. I brought unexposed Neopan 1600 through Newark on my way home last November with no ill effects. Last May I had a lot of XP2 Super in my backpack going Oslo-Copenhagen-Seattle-New York-Oslo both exposed and unexposed, same thing, no ill effects. Now if you plan to put the rolls in your checked luggage, I'd use a led bag. I'd also plan on not seeing that suicase when arriving at the destination as it will be hand inspected and that may take time as in not make your flight. If you have connecting flights it will be the same thing at the start of every leg.
jim_royer Posted August 29, 2006 Share #4 Posted August 29, 2006 I've been told that if you put your film in your carry on bag that it will be fine. However, that can depend on how many times it is checked through various security units at different airports, on your trip. The information said the effects of one time were not damaging but cumulation of times could be harmful. I would use the lead bags and put in carry-on luggage.
