If anybody here is still having trouble finding one, I might be fine letting mine go. Impulse buy, but prefer my M11. Comes with the official thumb grip and extra battery. Taken about 50-100 shots with it. Message me privately, don't want to spam this thread more than this message already is. I am in California, will ship anywhere in US. Cheers! Will post on Fred Miranda in the next couple days, but giving everyone here a chance before that.

Curious to hear why you prefer the m11? Are they on par in terms of image quality?

I have had this battle for years now, where I shoot with an M and then get frustrated for family/kid shots and then buy an autofocus camera on top of the M or I sell the M and just use the autofocus camera. I am now realizing that photography for me as a passion is just that, a passion. So the process with the M is just more enjoyable, which does come with a lot more out of focus shots and not being able to capture every single moment, but it does make the process more enjoyable which makes my photos more enjoyable.

If cost wasn't a concern, I don't think this battle in my mind would exist. I'd keep the Q3 for some family stuff here and there and focus on the M. But the more I use the Q3 and the more I look at my bank account, I realize I dont want two $8k+ cameras. The M to me should be the camera I take everywhere because it's fun. So thats where I have decided to maybe get some feelers of my Q3 43 before I actually post it. The camera itself, the quality, etc, I have no problems with - it's fantastic. But as you can see in my long winded post, its not about image quality it's about a lot more.

Might take you up on the Q3 43 if you decide to let it go (and depending on pricing!)

I think we're the same person. :)  I have the M11-P and the Q3 (28) and have the same battle whenever I choose which to bring. Do I go in knowing I'm going to miss 1/3rd of the shots with the M11P but enjoy it much more, or take the Q3 and get the shots via AF and feel like I'm missing out on that *something* I get with the M11-P and 35/50 lux.

I've decided to pick up a Q3 43 and then evaluate that against the M11-P and Q3 28.. Perhaps, like you, end up parting ways with the Q3 43 eventually.. or I might end up with a Q3 28 + 43 combo, or a Q3 43 + M11-P combo and then need to find a nice wider lens I'd enjoy.

It never ends.. :)

Yup, we are very much in the same boat. Mine is the M11-P as well. I think it's a very personal decision that isn't easy. I messaged you back by the way. It would only be fitting two people in the same dilemma made a deal like this haha. At this point maybe we just keep buying and selling it back from each other until we are happy :)

I'm exactly the same. Have gone back and forth with the Qs and Ms for family photography for a long time, and have come to accept that I just like the M more despite its quirks. (Although @Mowgli's posts in the Q3 43 image thread have made me do a serious double-take.)

FWIW, my solution for the AF 'problem' has been an SL2-S. The prices are relatively low, and paired with a couple of the cheap Panasonic or Sigma primes it can be quite cost-effective. You can use your M lenses, too and so get the M character. The EVF is great for telephoto (kids' performances, soccer games, etc.). It has become my 'beater' camera to take out for snowball fights and the like, when I don't want my Ms to get abused.

My purchase from a European vendor was sent to the US via DHL.  It got held up a couple days in customs… no customs fees, but DHL is charging me $40 to file the paperwork.   It was planned to arrive the first day I already had plans for out of town travel for a week (yesterday).  I had submitted to DHL both vacation hold and requested delivery date of next Monday + required signed release.  Last night I got a text from DHL my camera was dropped off on my front porch.  I called DHL and they said “too bad, so sad.  Your request was an ask, not a confirmation.”… despite having confirming notifications.
I had to interrupt my vacation, caring for my ailing mother, to track down a good neighbor to snag the package off my front porch.   Upon my return this Saturday I’ll finally be able to retrieve my 343.  Very excited, but not with DHL.

I similarly paid UPS $46 for the customs processing, with 2/3 being "government charges" and 1/3 going to UPS. Didn't get any paperwork what the actual processing or fees were for though. At least my package was luckily held up much ( a few hours?).

The camera has been available in Australia at Leica stores from the release day and occasionally private vendors as well. I bought one last week from a vendor in Melbourne who traded all my Fuji gear at a respectable price.

At the moment Leica stores are sold out.

It's like we're the same. Because I feel exactly the same. I have a m240 which is a lot cheaper. But it's so much more fun to use than the q343. But the q is so more efficient and sensible.

But as you I can't have two 8-10 k cameras although I'm close with my sl2 and other cameras 😅😂

But the q3 43 isn't massively fun to use. For me.

Who did you buy from and why did customs hold it up?

Bought from Leica UK as a "demo" unit.  They said they could not sell to me new in the US, but since they had the demo unit they knocked 5% off retail price.   Since I knew this camera was just launched I figured there would be very few pictures.   When I got it the sequence suggested less than 1K pictures were taken. Everything was spotless and no marks anywhere.   During shipping, DHL sent me a request for my SS#.    They came back a day later and asked I provide a visual of a Social Security card or tax statement with my SS#.   A couple days later it left customs.   All told, the cost was about $1K less than buying in the US+tax... and having to wait until December or January to receive.

I've bought a fair amount of hobby items from overseas over the years.  People complain about DHL but I never had a problem.  This time their performance was not so stellar.

I ordered the Q3 43 yesterday on B & H. I've packed up my Q2, my SL2-S and the Panasonic 35 and 50mm lenses to sell to MPB to help finance the Q3 43

There is no update regarding the 43's availability. I'm now questioning my selling off the cameras. How long could this wait possibly be?

Does anyone have any information regarding availability in the US? I feel as if I may regret my decision.
