To each his/her own, but a 30 second nozzle check on plain paper every month or so should avoid clogs with any of the modern machines.  Inks rarely go bad based on expiration date, using basic care.  I’ve had no clogging issues with 3 Epsons over the last 16 years.

Consistency and convenience are major reasons for my printing at home. Plus speed, paper flexibility/quick comparison, and attention to detail not typical by third party.  Minor edits/improvements, determined over time and/or available due to regular software upgrades, can be done immediately. File preparation is the same either way, for home or outsourcing.

I recently picked up an epson color label printer more for personal projects, but I’ve been surprised at how useful it’s been for quick proofs and small runs without needing to send files out. Quality isn’t like a full pro lab, of course, but it’s decent and super convenient for testing how an image looks printed before committing to a big order.

Do share brand, please.

I'm not a professional, not a Youtube influencer, and not making fine art prints for sale.

I have Epson inks and these 3rd party. With good quality paper and the right paper profile, I find the end result indistinguishable.

I have 9 x 12"colour prints I made five years ago of our now deceased dog, and not only did the colours come out true to the TIFF, but the pictures still look rich, unfaded.

Thanks. I get my Epson Ink from The Cartridge People (love the free Pen) and they are always promoting their own inks to me. Might give them a try. Do you get any messages in the printer window squealing, and if you do can you just ignore? Thanks
