FrancisR Posted October 8, 2024 Share #1  Posted October 8, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, This my first post, happy to be here. Like a lot of people, choosing between the black and silver MA is proving to be difficult. I've looked at multiple silver MA's in person and the they all have the serial number engraved on the top of the camera. The Australian Leica webpage contradicts that though (serial moved to the shoe). Has anyone bought or had eyes on a silver MA with no engraved serial number??? Is this a webpage glitch? I much prefer the minimal lettering on the websites advertised photos. Thanks in advance. Welcome, dear visitor! a.noctilux Posted October 8, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted October 8, 2024 (edited) Hello Francis. Why bother, even if I do understand. If the most important is M-A, you would forget the serial number. Happily, this detail can not disturb the M-A as tool to take good pictures. Or use top mounted aux VF or meter to hide the serial number wherever it is. grahamc Posted October 8, 2024 Share #3  Posted October 8, 2024 (edited) Hi Francis, and welcome Al's pick-up aside (which seems to be a glitch, Leica Australia showing a ltd edition pic where a standard M-A pic should be) ..  in looking at official Leica M-A product photographs online, even quite old ones - it seems that there is never serial number shown on the top plate (for example seen in the wiki section of this forum : here , or on Leica store websites internationally) However, all pics of M-A's in the wild have the serial number on the top plate in the expected position (i.e. same location as MP and your first pic) So my guess is delivered cameras would have serial # on top plate, despite official product photos not indicating it Edited October 8, 2024 by grahamc
