Jeff Wagner Posted October 7, 2024 Share #1 Posted October 7, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the latest firmware and the Q3 has been working fine except that it keeps jumping between user modes on its own without my input. Very frustrating
Advertisement Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 Hi Jeff Wagner, Take a look here Q3 keeps switching user modes on its iwn. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Le Chef Posted October 7, 2024 Share #2 Posted October 7, 2024 What do you mean by “User Modes”?

LocalHero1953 Posted October 7, 2024 Share #4 Posted October 7, 2024 How are you saving your profiles? What do you mean by 'jumping about'? Do you see that the selected profile number shown on the LCD changes? Or just that the settings change?
Jeff Wagner Posted October 7, 2024 Author Share #5 Posted October 7, 2024 Both. I turn on the camera and select a profile and I notice that it’s not using the settings saved in that profile and has switched on its own to another profile. This is without switching the camera off in between
LocalHero1953 Posted October 8, 2024 Share #6 Posted October 8, 2024 How do you save the profiles in the first place?
Jeff Wagner Posted October 8, 2024 Author Share #7 Posted October 8, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Exactly as the manual instructs
Le Chef Posted October 8, 2024 Share #8 Posted October 8, 2024 The culprit is often a memory card that is not functioning as it should. Try a new one and format in the camera. If that doesn’t work, then send it in to Leica. I’ve not had any issues on staying with a profile unless I change a setting saved to that profile. Then it will go into what I call “temp” mode. But it doesn’t jump to another profile.
aficionados Posted October 8, 2024 Share #9 Posted October 8, 2024 I never understand how user profile works, on my Q2, Q3, and M11. It is always finicky. I decided to not use it at all, and set up what I need to set up before taking the pictures.
Le Chef Posted October 8, 2024 Share #10 Posted October 8, 2024 User profiles work really well, if you’ve read the instruction manual and followed the instructions to a “T”, otherwise they can be confusing. Like everything in life, RTFM is the golden rule.

Like everything in life, RTFM is the golden rule. I and a friend have found making the settings in the user profile menu rather tricky, despite having read the manual carefully. Yes: it does work according to the manual, but there is something unintuitive about the procedure, such that having achieved it successfully six months ago is no guarantee of remembering how to do it today. 😀 David
Jeff Wagner Posted October 9, 2024 Author Share #12 Posted October 9, 2024 I’m coming to the conclusion that it has something to do with the favorites menu and firmware.
