Rather than Kodak Gold, I think the better analogy would be Kodachrome. I’ve never been brave enjoying to shoot only jpeg despite finding post processing a chore I’d rather do without for most images so I shoot raw+jpeg. For some shots though I just use the jpeg as it is what I want and I’d need to spend too much time on raw conversions that can more usefully be spent making coffee.
