Hoya Posted October 3, 2024 Share #1 Posted October 3, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Trying to decide between buying a Q3 or a 28 Summilux. I have a M-10R with a mix of Lux and Chrons at 35, 50, 75, and 90. Bought a 28 1.4 Thypoch Simera and fell in love with the focal length (the lens is also an amazing value for the $) - so also a question about whether a marginal improvement in the lens is worth the cost to add Leica glass at that length. Thanks for insights.

Thanks for insights. Q3 is a small(-ish) camera+lens with (silent) leaf shutter + optical stabilisation + af + macro; almost pocketable in size & a camera that you can carry in a hip-belt bag/pouch and shoot by one hand as a cell phone, if you wish. The 28Lux-M is rather large & heavy on an M-body. I really enjoy the Q3; but that's just me...
Pika898 Posted October 4, 2024 Share #4 Posted October 4, 2024 I would go with the Q3, the lux 28 is a heavy lens and I find the 0.7m limiting for a wide angle, would really benefit from at least a close focus update imo.
SiggiGun Posted October 4, 2024 Share #5 Posted October 4, 2024 We often see these questions “ x versus y ” in the forum. My personal answer to this question depends on whether you are a “hard M user” (i.e. you have invested in the M products, which is my case). 1/ You have an M and you have several lenses => 28LUX M 2/ You are more interested in modern technology, autofocus, etc. => Take the Q3 . Addition: S3 + Q3 are the modern products and form an excellent “ combo ”.
costa43 Posted October 5, 2024 Share #6 Posted October 5, 2024 If you have fallen in love with the Thypoch then I would suggest sticking with that lens and pocketing the cash for another itch.
