quiet.seattle Posted October 1, 2024 Share #1 Posted October 1, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am an enthusiastic amateur who shoots mostly street and portraits. I bought my first Leica, a used Q2, a year ago and love it. However, I am more of a 35 to 50mm shooter so I added to my arsenal and purchased a used SL2-S and two Panasonic lenses, a 35 and a 50. Now, the Q43 appears and seems to be a dream camera for my purposes. I'm not interested in video and do miss the tilt screen I've utilized with previous cameras. I'm not wealthy or I would just buy a Q3 43 and add it to the collection. Could use some counseling. Do I sell both (or one of) the Q2 and SL2-S and replace them with the Q3 43? Thank you for your indulgence.

LocalHero1953 Posted October 1, 2024 Share #2 Posted October 1, 2024 (edited) In your shoes, and if 35 and 50 fulfilled all my desires, I would sell the SL system and buy the Q3 43 without a moment’s thought. I have a Q2 and SL2-S, but 35 and 50 do not fulfill all my desires! I need longer. Edited October 1, 2024 by LocalHero1953
Dr. G Posted October 2, 2024 Share #3 Posted October 2, 2024 (edited) I could happily replace my APO 35 and APO 50 on the SL3 with the Q3 43. In fact, now that I have the 43, I have my APO 50 up for sale already. I'm keeping my 50mm Summilux-SL, though. Different animal altogether. Camaro5 Posted October 2, 2024 Share #4 Posted October 2, 2024 I did something similar. Sold my SL2 and four lenses plus my Q2 to get a Q3 28. Left me some cash to get into another backup system. You can second guess yourself until the cows come home but I'm happy with the Q3 28.
