Different subject: I’m using the handgrip from my Q328 on my Q343; however the body of the Q343 isn’t black. Will Leica be making a handgrip to match the colour of the Q343? Obviously, my pictures aren’t brilliant until the handgrip colour is the same! 😉 I too hope they will make a hand grip specifically for the 43. I'm currently rocking the black Q3 wireless charging version.

Apparently, the 49-46mm adaptor ring is custom made by him and he will be selling it soon on eBay but you need to buy the 46mm filter yourself. Seems that if what the service person's theory is true, they have made a different batch... Wait to see....
classba Posted November 28, 2024 Share #63 Posted November 28, 2024 I e mailed Leica this morning to ask if they will do something about the lens hood issue and got this reply which is interesting. Dear Thank you for your email and for bringing up the issue regarding the Q3/43 lens hood when used with a UV filter. We are aware of this matter and recognize the inconvenience this may cause, particularly with the Macro function. Please know that our Customer Care are looking into solutions to address this issue. While we cannot provide detailed updates at this moment, it is possible that action may take place going into 2025. Schoeniman Posted November 28, 2024 Share #65 Posted November 28, 2024 Hi Chris, thanks for sharing this answer from Leica. I think they should take action, even if some of us have found a viable solution in the meantime. To be honest: I would rather have a lens hood with LEICA engraving. Nothing wrong with the Haoge one, as it works very well, but as a true Leica aficionado, I much prefer the original, wherever possible.

LocalHero1953 Posted November 28, 2024 Share #68 Posted November 28, 2024 The best solution for Leica would be to buy them from Haoge, print 'Leica' on them and sell them for £150. No point in reinventing the wheel or not turning a fast buck at the customer's expense. 1

classba Posted November 28, 2024 Share #73 Posted November 28, 2024 I would love to hear your thoughts in regards to the color of the hood. I know Chris and others are BLACK. I did a bit of digging and apparently to make the black color, one needs to mix blue with purple hence why mine had a blue tint to it when compared to the original hood. Thanks.
LocalHero1953 Posted November 29, 2024 Share #74 Posted November 29, 2024 Received my Haoge hood today: it's a perfect black, and it aligns at the right angle on the lens. It is distinctly longer than the original - if Leica came up with a better design for the original, short, hood, I might consider it, but I hope Leica would make it available for free - by exchange if necessary (to prove you are an original owner, not just getting one to sell to gullible owners).
classba Posted November 29, 2024 Share #75 Posted November 29, 2024 Thanks for the info Paul... seems like I bought a bad batch one from Amazon then. I'll order one directly from their site in China. Thanks. David

Brilliant, so pleased! The quality is superb, I was amazed. - I’ll be honest, I rarely if ever use the macro feature; but it’s the principle of it not working with the original Leica hood, that upset me.

Agree and I also like the the look with the slightly longer hood... Maybe I'm used to my Nikon and Zeiss lenses lol

classba Posted December 7, 2024 Share #79 Posted December 7, 2024 FYI… if you want to retain the original hood and use a filter then NISI has just produced a very thin screw in filter specifically for the Q3/43 which will enable the use of macro. Holding my breath whilst typing! The price of the Leica round hood that works in macro mode with filter is ridiculous but I went ahead with it. I went to B&H in NY and tried the round hood with a circular polarizer screwed in. I found I was able to easily get my fingers inside the hood and turn the filter without touching the filter (important). I am happy with the appearance of the hood - it doesn't look very obtrusive at all as I had imagined it might. Hardly different than the original square hood... So, except for the price, I am happy with this choice over getting a Haoge or some future Leica similar fix. But, I agree, I do think Leica should comp me for this purchase.
