@ChrisQ3

If you don't mind my asking. Did you have to pay VAT and/or import duty when it came into the UK?

thanks

Hi, nope, no tax or any import duties…. The quality of the hood so superb; identical to the Leica hood, but without the logo… C.

Hi Guys, Bought mine from Amazon Uk and arrived today. Perfect fit and allowed IMG_2944.HEICIMG_2945.HEICthe use of a filter and in macro mode.  The hood is slightly longer than the original which is fine by me and the only CON for me with my OCD, the copy version has a slight blue tint color to the black which IMO stands out and differs from the black color of the original hood and to the lens.

Overall, it's a winner. :)

I didn't notice the color difference at all until you mentioned.

Now I can't unsee what I have seen. 😁

LMAO :)

Well, I got mine direct from their website in China, and the colour of my hood is identical, zero blue tint…. (Don’t you hate a show off!) 😅 The sales guy at my local Leica store actually commented yesterday, how good the colour matched the lens…  I wonder if you have a ‘faulty’ one?

I‘ve got mine from their Webshop too and there is NO color tint!

I'll return mine and buy another direct.

Does yours have any brand logo or wording anywhere on the hood?.  Mine has none.

Cheers

Attached is a quick picture of my hood, using my phone - nope, zero wording or logo.  If it had the Leica wording, you’d think it was an original. Brilliant quality… Hope this quick pic helps…

I am currentlyworking in Shanghai. I bought the hood from Haoge's Chinese online shop.

I fowarded the blue tint picture to the shop I purchased from. The service person told me that it is a bit strange and this is probably not their product. He mentioned that so far they had just made one batch of production of this hood. If one hood has this color tint, the whole batch should have(he explained to me the chemical theory on how the tint can happen during production but I do not understand because of my poor chemistry knowledge). He confirmed that haogefoto.com is their official international online shop. Hope this helps.

That’s so interesting; thanks for the update… Yep, mine is as black as black can be. I have looked at it again today in the bright sun, and there is no sign of a blue tint;  playing devils advocate, does the ‘blue-tint’ for those who purchased from Amazon really matter? Is it that noticeable? I’m sure your pictures will look the same? 😉

Why oh why, Leica thought it better to make the Q343 the same size as the Q328, at the expense of not being able to fit a filter is beyond me!  I think Leica should send everyone who has registered their Q343 a replacement hood!  We get firmware updates to fix software bugs, why not a replacement hood to fix the filter/macro issues? Yes, I know the answer before I’m inundated with replies!!!!

Yes, it is their own product...  their box etc with the product code.... I emailed them directly yesterday and their response was all their 43 hoods are the same color like mine which puzzled me even more.  I did attached my two photos to them.

I know it's a tiny thing being a bit off black but to my eyes, it's very obvious and that bugs me to say the least.... YES, the photos will look the same lol :)

I think I'll just hang tight for now to see what's what and if Leica will do something about it and if I want to use Macro mode with a filter then I'll take off the hood.

This is also interesting:

No worries Chris.... :)

Apparently, the 49-46mm adaptor ring is custom made by him and he will be selling it soon on eBay but you need to buy the 46mm filter yourself.

Oh, ok, honestly I can’t fault my replacement hood!

Different subject: I’m using the handgrip from my Q328 on my Q343; however the body of the Q343 isn’t black. Will Leica be making a handgrip to match the colour of the Q343? Obviously, my pictures aren’t brilliant until the handgrip colour is the same! 😉
