Vip Posted September 27, 2024 Share #1 Posted September 27, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sadly last month on a train my M11, 16/21, 28 f 2, 35 f 1,4 was stolen. Now I would like to re buy some of the stolen items. do anyone knows if M12 is appearing within 2025? It would bored me to buy the M11 short before M 12. Advertisement Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Hi Vip, Take a look here M 12. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LocalHero1953 Posted September 27, 2024 Share #2 Posted September 27, 2024 Sorry to hear about that - always painful, even with insurance. The M series appears to run on unprecise 5 year cycles: 2012 (M240), 2017 (M10) and 2022 (M11), so the best guess would be January 2027.
newtoleica Posted September 27, 2024 Share #3 Posted September 27, 2024 That’s a pain… sorry. I suppose the good news is you now can choose between a P, M and D version! do inform Leica of the stolen S/N
Dazzajl Posted September 27, 2024 Share #4 Posted September 27, 2024 Thieves absolutely boil my blood. Really sorry to hear you’ve had to suffer this.
BWColor Posted September 27, 2024 Share #5 Posted September 27, 2024 That’s unfortunate, but as your post demonstrates, you are now able to re-evaluate your mix of cameras and lenses. Seeing your post motivated me to ask my insurance company to forward a copy of my covered equipment. Good that I did this, I had a number of cameras and lenses that I sold to finance recent purchases. This brings up another opportunity. Purchasing used allows you to upgrade to the M12 and sell your M11 with less of a loss. Of course, the introduction of the M12 doesn’t make the M11 any less capable. The stolen item has become more frequently I was said also on planes. They do not take the bag, very rapidly simulating their bag movement open your bag and empty from items! 3

So sad, both your event and the new method on planes. The M11 iirc has not been issued in special edition, a bit unusual given it's year three. My guess and it's speculation at best, Leica will introduce a P variant in Safari or Reporter in the near future. There's also rumors of more introductions coming in 2024 for the 70th anniversary of the M. We'll soon see, only the last quarter of the year is left. Of course if you ask a Leica representative they won't give you advance information of new products. I ask despite this and listen carefully to their answers, they may hint at something unknowingly. My local Leica store will start a list for purchase of new equipment rumored or imagined by customers. Will you be replacing your lenses exactly as before or change? Viv Posted September 29, 2024 Share #10 Posted September 29, 2024 (edited) So sorry to hear about this theft. I would not wait for the M12. Buy a used M11. Edited September 29, 2024 by Viv
Vip Posted September 29, 2024 Author Share #11 Posted September 29, 2024 Leica should be considered as a narcotic. If you start to use it one’s becomes addicted. I will start to look if I can find an M 11 in mint condition
ravinj Posted September 29, 2024 Share #12 Posted September 29, 2024 (edited) You can try https://www.rangefinder.com.hk/ and see if they have used M11. I have bought from there earlier and they are good. There are also forums like Fred Miranda with a thriving buy/sell market for used gear - I also had many good transactions there, but it is US centric. As for theft, yes theft while flying is a real risk. A few years ago my brother's backpack was taken from overhead storage. Often the overhead storage is full by the time you reach your seat and you are then forced to keep it away from where you are. The problem is when deplaning you have no way to grab your bag if is not right above your seat storage area. Esp if your bag is in storage areas of rows that are in front - easy for someone to grab your bag upfront and walk away while you are waiting for the line to move. In this particular case, the thief got cold feet - bag was opened with money and one ID card inside which happened to be ex law enforcement credential. It was found thrown, zippers open on one of the conveyor belts at the luggage collection and we were able to locate it after 30 minutes. Bottom line is keep your camera bag under your seat in front or directly in overhead storage of the seat. I also lock the zippers of all my backpacks to deter someone opening it and taking the contents. Edited September 29, 2024 by ravinj
LeicaR10 Posted September 29, 2024 Share #13 Posted September 29, 2024 Vip, I am sorry to hear of your loss. Its a pain to deal with and almost never get full compensation for the loss. I see you have a number of photographers who offer good advice and I will include myself. I have a different view of the M11 and variants and will not write about that model. I personlly went back to the M10-R and M for my work horse M cameras. But perhaps the recent firmware updates have resolved many of the issues with the M11. In the meantime, if you are looking for a good source of M gear you might try this store. I am certain you will get back into creating photographs once the gear is replaced. r/ Mark Try: https://classic.leica-camera.com/en

algrove Posted September 30, 2024 Share #15 Posted September 30, 2024 (edited) Sorry for your lost gear through theft. Even if the M12 comes out before 5 years the value of an M11 will not go down a huge amount as it is well received especially after the latest FW update. As of last week no US Leica stores had one used M11 available. I have the 35 APO close up lens and it is a welcomed addition to my kit, but only if you just the EVF for close focus. Vip Posted September 30, 2024 Author Share #16 Posted September 30, 2024 I have the used one's but the reduction of price is ranging between 1000 and 1500 euros less in not all in perfect condition with shorter time garantie 🤔

The Imprint says Leica Wetzlar. From experience I know that the web site lists Leica used gear that is available for sale at Leica stores in Europe. I bought one item in the store that I saw on the site the day before. I however never tried the online shopping option. A pain, yes, but policy terms vary greatly.. by location, by company, by policy and by individual circumstances and qualifications. I’m fortunate to have a high end policy that pays full replacement, even covering appreciation and/or new model in case of discontinuation. When I submitted a significant claim for a damaged vintage silver print, covered by the same policy, payment was fast and seamless. It pays to carefully research alternatives. LeicaR10 Posted September 30, 2024 Share #20 Posted September 30, 2024 (edited) Kim Dahl, The Leica Classic Store is located in Vienna, Austria. I could be mistaken, but Leica either bought the original store or has a business relationship with that particular store. I believe Leica has gotten into reselling used Leica gear via their many Leica Stores that are mostly company owned, at least in the USA. Reselling used Leica gear is a profitable business. There are only a handful of Leica Stores that are jointly owned or has agreements for joint partnership in the USA. The other stores are Leica boutiques or have long-time Leica dealer agreements. I have purchased from the Leica Classic Store in the past and it was a very good experience. r/ Mark Edited September 30, 2024 by LeicaR10 1
