Advertisement Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Hi rougewave, Take a look here Sanning BW negs in Color. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
frc Posted December 27, 2007 Share #2 Posted December 27, 2007 Quite often I scan B&W negs as colour postives, than invert in PS2. It gives a slight colour cast that one likes or not. Desaturating in the channel mixer is the solution if you'd want only grey scale. Scanning however is experimenting, at least for me.
Michael Hiles Posted December 28, 2007 Share #3 Posted December 28, 2007 When scanning chromogenic film (Ilford XP2 or the Kodak equivalent) I sometimes set the scanner to "colour" input and greyscale output. This allows for automatic dust/scratch removal. This does not work with silver-based film, since the Infrared dust removal process does not work with a silver-based image. I doubt that there is any advantage other than the dust removal issue - at least I cannot see any difference. Others may know more/better. Cheers, Michael
