FrankU Posted September 17, 2024 Share #1 Posted September 17, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am trying to use my brand new Q3. Two days ago it locked up and I could not take any pictures. Nothing was added to the card. I eventually called the seller, B+H and was advised to "Reset Camera" and then pictures were taken again, recorded, could be downloaded etc. Great. This night I wanted to take more pics, but pretty soon the camera was locked into "interval shooting" (i. s.) and every time I pressed the shutter the camera went collecting more and more interval shots. I tried to get out of this and clicked on the NO for continuing i s, but that did not take, i removed the battery, the SD card, but it just stayed in i. s. mode. I guess I will have to restart the camera again and baby watch it throw up again and again ... and then fill in my name, language etc], time and time over again , all over again. Is the Leica Q software so unhealthy for everyone? I have not heard anything like that anywhere. Maybe my Q3 is just an outlier, a piece of junk? What causes these glitches the make the camera unusable on the fly, when i need it to take fleeting pics that are not taken because it just spits up and the scene is gone. At times when I need it right then? Should I just return it to seller and ask for an operable camera that does not foul up. Should I send it to Leica and wait for a repair. I am stuck without . With a useless 7,000 $ camera ! Or should i just drop it into our recycling pile? Ist here any one else with such baby teeth problems. Is it just I who happens to click on some devilish menu point and release the devil in my face. Please try to help. Can I call Leica USA somehow, some where? Thanks Frank U
Advertisement Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Hi FrankU, Take a look here Q3 0perating system keeps locking up.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
nicci78 Posted September 17, 2024 Share #2 Posted September 17, 2024 if you are still into the returning window, sent it back. You don't really want to keep a lemon with very long repair time.
Le Chef Posted September 17, 2024 Share #3 Posted September 17, 2024 What firmware do you have installed? What settings do you have, and have you created any profiles? Are you using Fotos? All of these can be factors in creating problems.

pcgarner Posted September 17, 2024 Share #5 Posted September 17, 2024 Time to go analog. There are some nice M3s on the market. Even a new M6 would suffice. :-)
Trankster Posted September 17, 2024 Share #6 Posted September 17, 2024 (edited) Dumb question, but did you try a different card? I have owned my Q3 for over a year and have had none of the problems you describe. (I use Fotos for Android without issue and have updated the several firmware updates, also without issue.) Sounds like you have a lemon. I would return it in exchange for a replacement Q3. Edited September 17, 2024 by Trankster
