I have had a Leica SL3 for about 3 months. Recently updated to the new Firmware 1.1.9 with no problems. I have removed and reinserted the CF Express card since the update. I have been using a CF Express card and an SD Card. Today I removed the CF Express to download some images to my Mac. When I tried to put it back into the SL3 it will not insert. It is almost like the slot is now to narrow. When I look inside the slot it looks like there is a U shape flange on the right side that is sticking to far into the opening. There is nothing wrong with the card as it inserted into the my Prograde card reader with no issues. Has anyone else had this problem and any suggestions on a fix or is this going back to Leica?

Thanks for the reply Alex. I realize my photo showed it going in backwards but I did try it both ways and it did not go in. I am wondering if I did not fully shut down the camera when I pulled the card so just in sleep mode. I just started the camera again and then made sure to shut it down completely and now the card is going in. Maybe a glitch maybe not enough coffee this morning.

In your picture you have the card inserted with the wrong side, and by forcing it, to me it looks like you have bent the right side of the card holder.

Hi Jim

Tried it both ways thinking I was putting it it wrong and it would not go in. Card is now in. I have a feeling the camera was in sleep mode when I took out the card. I shut down completely and started again and card inserted fine. That is a spring you are pointing to and that is normal look. I think the angle of the photo makes it look wrong. The card fits into the slots on the left and right side so doesn't actually touch the spring as you insert it. Not sure what it does. Maybe a guide for the card.

Hi

My issue was different. When the cf card was inserted I got a message saying the card was formatted in a different device. The cf card was brand new. I was able to formatted in the camera and then it was ok. Still it was weird.

Has anyone had that experience?

This is entirely normal. A new card has not yet been formatted by the camera, this is detected by the camera and you get the error message. Your new card had been formatted by a different device = whichever technology the card provider uses before putting it in the shops :)

Thank you! This never happened with the sd cards, so I was wondering why with the cf. Your reply makes sense. The cfs are a different technology and more complex.
