As I shoot film it will take some time before my evaluation.

Yes, its delivered with a UV filter and you dont have to use the hood. Seems like a solid product.

Sweet! Excited to hear what you think!

Mine should arrive tomorrow. I'll let you know what I think.

It looks great on the lens, feels solid and is much more compact compared to the 12504 hood. You can use it without the hood part, but then there is no white index dot so it is harder to know the aperture selected. I guess you could add a small white dot with some paint. The included 43mm filter is very thin and I have not noticed any vignetting. Haven't tried any other filters yet since it a bit difficult to change filter. You have to unscrew the screws that hold the hood in place using the tiny tool provided. Then you can swap filter and put the hood back on.

There is a video from Squarehood that shows how to attach it -

I only have one photo of it so far.

Ya I was just curious of it minus the hood. I’m more interested in using it without the hood so it’s super low profile

Looks great, very small footprint and a more pleasurable experience when it comes to adjusting the aperture I’m sure.

Yes, hood does not interfere with setting the aperture, unlike the 12504 hood where the tabs on the hood get in the way.

Wouldn't call it super low profile, the SR re-issue is lower profile. A couple of comparisons without the hood and then with the hood on. Left to right: SR re-issue, pre-asph v2 with Squarehood adapter, Summicron ASPH.

That helps greatly though! I really appreciate it. Not too bad. Definately bigger than the SR but still decently low profile without the hood

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed that I can't find a 43mm filter that does not vignette other than the super thin one that ships with the hood. This means I can't really use this if I want to use a yellow or ND filter. I have to revert to using the series VII filters with the original hood.

It states on the Squarehood website that they have red, yellow and orange filters that work for sale seperately. I can't see them on their products page but on the lens hood description for the Summilux, it clearly says it, might be worth an email to them.

I have used this and got a few developed films back which now are scanned. I dont notice any vignetting from usung this hood. Im very satisfied with the product. I also feel way more safe about banging the lens into something when Im tipsy in a bar with the camera around my neck. 🙂
