Dr. G Posted September 8, 2024 Share #1 Posted September 8, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there a way to lock focus in AF-S to take multiple images to stitch, or can it only be done using manual focus?
Advertisement Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 Hi Dr. G, Take a look here Q: Stitching with the Q3…. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Qwertynm Posted September 9, 2024 Share #2 Posted September 9, 2024 In AF-S just keep the shutter half pressed. Focus point will remain green and you can move the camera.

I'm not sure the Q3 can do that if AF-S acquires the initial focus point. In other words, can the focus lock be mapped to a different button or does the shutter half press always reacquire focus? ianforber Posted September 14, 2024 Share #4 Posted September 14, 2024 I think the shutter half press retains the focus provided you don’t let it return up beyond half press after you’ve taken each image. Alternatively, switch to manual focus. Personally, when I’ve stitched images I’ve always used a small aperture so minor focus difference haven’t been an issue for me.
