TheEyesHaveIt Posted September 8, 2024 Share #1 Posted September 8, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Curious if it can hold the M11 if so? Quite a clever design for something super portable. https://www.minox.com/us/MINOX-Camera-Pocket-Tripod/80405773

FrozenInTime Posted September 9, 2024 Share #2 Posted September 9, 2024 They do look nice almost deco in design, but the one I have is not capable of holding much weight. IIRC there is a coin slot you can wrench the head ball joint into compression and try your luck with extra weight. A minox 8x11, Olympus XA or Rollei 35, maybe stretch to a Leica CL, but would say not a full size M camera.

It is called MP1-C01. I have one. It’s good if you’re carrying a camera around and expecting to need a stable base for a fair proportion of your shots. If you think you’ll only use it for a small number, then I think it’s too bulky (and ugly) on a M for permanent attachment. It does the job though.
Photoworks Posted September 9, 2024 Share #4 Posted September 9, 2024 I use the Leica version with a ARCA ball head https://leicastoremiami.com/products/leica-table-tripod?variant=345686067 Welcome, dear visitor! TheEyesHaveIt Posted September 10, 2024 Author Share #5 Posted September 10, 2024 Sounds like I'll stick to my current solution then of the Really Right Stuff Pocket Tripod and BC-18 ballhead. Fairly compact, but quite flexible in terms of leg position and very sturdy with the M11.

Many years ago I found the Minolta branded version of the Leica tabletop tripod. It has the more standard lower ball head, but it can be replaced with a taller one, it’s typically cheaper than the Leica branded version if you can find one and it’s a great option. FrozenInTime Posted September 12, 2024 Share #7 Posted September 12, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) The problem with all mini-tripod solutions, is that they rarely yield photographs of much merit - the well placed wall or table is a rarity, so the miniature tripod becomes little more than dead weight to be carried all day and night without use. I have yet to see a 'show me your table tripod shots' thread full of marvellous images, but would like to be proven wrong !

While not a marvelous image of any sort, I have leaned on the RRS pocket tripod to shoot long exposures and to blend multiple exposures of the same scene. This is an example I did a few years ago with the Q2 (clearly went heavy on the purple in the post-processing back then). Welcome, dear visitor! odoomi Posted September 14, 2024 Share #9 Posted September 14, 2024 no experience with the Minox, however, I am using the Gitzo Mini Traveler - its sturdy and light, really like it! Best Andreas
DadDadDaddyo Posted September 15, 2024 Share #10 Posted September 15, 2024 Manfrotto PIXI Mini. Slips early into a camera bag, or a jacket pocket, and does the job. Around 33 dollars. Just a nice little piece of practicality.
geesbert Posted September 16, 2024 Share #11 Posted September 16, 2024 I carried this around for years in my camera bag, it’s not the most stable, but usually suffice as an emergency unit. Airport security personnel pick always out, but usually they are happy if I show them the party trick of assembling it. It is so small, it doesn’t fit into any bag, but it’s more heavy than it looks. I guessit is so small, it doesn’t fit into any bag, but it’s more heavy than it looks. I guess it may it is made of brass. that’s the older version, which looks more like stainless steel and more shiny and has a much weaker head. The slot is also slightly different design as it was designed pre-euro and made for a 1DM coin.
david strachan Posted September 16, 2024 Share #12 Posted September 16, 2024 It's like the old story ..lean against a tree...change your lenses in a clean bathroom.. A small tripod is great if you've got a table or something at the right height and distance for the lens perspective. Unfortunately it never quite happens. ...
