If it's the right hood, when you mount the hood aligning the holes in the hood with the prongs.

Are the prongs in the right places (opposite each other) ?

Non parallel ?

How much in which way ?

I may suggest, if too much or not enough, the two prongs on the lens which can move a bit or bent .

If the tilting is not big (not seen in pix or in VF close down aperture), I'd just leave the "tilt" then use the lens happily.

When mounted the hood should be aligned like this:

I have seen examples where the internal ring has become damaged or misaligned preventing the hood from sitting flush with the lens.

That is very useful and clearly shows me that my filter is not aligned in the same way.

Yes. So there are 3 tiny screws which fix the square hood to the round lens attachment part. I loosened them and could then rotate the 2 parts but any change in position then blocks the opening that allows the lens pins to engage with the hood.
