When shooting in AF-C with face detection, sometimes the photographer wants the camera to temporarily ignore face detection and focus on a specific point, so that he can then recompose the frame and take the photo. The Sony A7RV has a setting that allows holding down the button (which was previously set to this function) to temporarily switch to another focus mode. How do you solve this situation with the SL3?

Not easily. I can't answer for the SL3, but on the SL2-S I have assigned the front lower button to AF mode (and the front upper button to MF/AF). But that only gives you access to the mode list, so you still have to select the mode.

I have one of the buttons set to select a profile - it's almost the same. But this path takes up valuable time and an important moment will be missed. Especially when you need to switch back and forth quite regularly

As a half-solution, this works: In AF-C mode with face detection, you need to tap on the desired place on the screen, then the camera will focus on this place the next time you press the shutter button. After releasing the shutter button, the camera will return to normal mode. But how can you achieve this using only the EVF?

one of the buttons can be set to " Toggle Focus Point", for me one of the top buttons.

It will switch the AF to the center field, and when you hit it again it goes back to face.

Doesn’t work in AF-C with face detection.

Edit: I was wrong. This works great, thank you very much.🙏

Damn - I'm sure someone told me about this a while ago (perhaps you?) and I forgot. Thanks!

Invaluable information! This is one of the settings that always took to much time going via the (quick) menu. This will help my workflow a lot!

I've just used it in anger this evening - I found one drawback: it only switches to AF centre field for the next shot, then reverts to Face. I would like it to stay switched until I toggle it back. @Photoworks - is there a way to do this?
