Mark II Posted August 30, 2024 Share #1 Posted August 30, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was wondering why the viewfinder glare seems so bad on my Q2M when I realised that I have worn away a good deal of the rubber around the right side of the viewfinder (such that the glass now projects about 1mm beyond it - fortunately the viewfinder glass has a protector on it). Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the rubber surround yourself, or does the camera need to be sent away? Unfortunately, I do not live near a Leica Store. Mark II Posted August 31, 2024 Author Share #2 Posted August 31, 2024 Replying to my own question seems to be: - it is not a DIY fix... - they cannot even replace the rubber in the nearest Leica store... - so it has to be sent to Wetzlar, where there is a four month waiting time for Q-series repairs... And apparently 4 months is good, because mechanical repairs (think M series film cameras) currently have a wait time of a year. I had been considering adding a Q3 to my current setup, but this is reminding me of why I eventually gave up on the M series.
stuny Posted August 31, 2024 Share #3 Posted August 31, 2024 My Q, after 6 or 7 years, has partial wear away on that rubber piece. I was hoping your question would find a much easier solution.
