Apart from the red dot and some similarities in form factor, they are worlds apart in terms of functionality and shooting experience.

Buying a Leica, any Leica, defies logic. Regardless of rational thinking and process, if you want a Leica and can afford it, you will buy it regardless. It’s an emotional purchase.

Which is a manual rangefinder with no ibis/ois, no evf, no weather sealing, no video, no autofocus. It’s like claiming that a bicycle is lighter than a motorbike. It’s true, but the only thing they have in common is that both can take you from point A to B. Apple and oranges.

After the elephant skin travel bags he was selling (for an astronomical cost), ignoring questions and critisism for a looooooong time on various platforms including here, I belong to those that simply ignore the man. But that’s only me.

So I guess you’re not going to be on the pre-order list for his limited edition hardcover Q3/43 Guide that’s bound in the skin of a long-disappeared ancient reptile he brought back from extinction, just so he could use their hide to bind his latest offering? It’s an obvious way to get more people to buy a Q3. Will be interested to see how the new lens performs. 
my Q2 has found its role although I struggled initially as 28mm is neither fish nor fowl for me being between my favoured 35 and 24mm lenses. 
the Q2 gets used as an alternative to an iPhone. Wet weather. Casual stuff, holidays, one lens days. I still hate iPhone photography so the Q is a great replacement.

A very interesting point. The naming for sure leaves the door open for other variants. A 21mm will fit very nicely to 43mm.

Not sure if I would buy such Q or the SL apo instead…

a dream camera with a fantastic focal length and great crop options. But unfortunately, without an APO Summicron it seems.
I hope it comes without a red dot. Ideally it would get an outfit like the Q-P.🙄

See post #366. The leaked document suggests that it is an APO Summicron. I have am skeptical it will be as good as the 35mm or 50mm APO Summicron SL versions, but I am sure it will still be very good.

The choice between  Q3 28 and  Q3 43 would be tough for me.   I mostly shoot at 35 and 50 mm, some times at 28 or wider.  For longer focal lengths, I use my SL2-S and a variety of long lenses, but not for street or travel work.  With the Q3 43, I'm closest to my fave 35mm without cropping, though I'm not that bothered with cropping.   Yet, I would prefer the higher resolution afforded by the non-cropped 43 and the likely higher resolution with a 50 mm crop using that camera.   Ah, choices....decisions...

A cycle with three wheels is a tricycle (tri = 3). A cycle with one wheel is a unicycle (uni = 1). A cycle with two wheels is a bicycle (bi = 2). If it has more or less than 2 wheels it’s not a bicycle (and, accordingly, not a ‘bike’, as ‘bike’ is merely a shorthand version of ‘bicycle’).

Anyway, back to cameras!
