AndrewPiper Posted August 24, 2024 Share #1 Posted August 24, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi guys. Im interested in purchasing a shutter button for my M11. Leica obviously will relieve my pocket of a silly amount of money ...as they do for everything. Question please is there a better make/brand that stays locked in place more so than the cheaper options..? Ok its only a threaded screw with a button on top but clearly I want it to stay locked in place without the silly idea of Loctite. Thank you for any and all advice. RMF Posted August 25, 2024 Share #2 Posted August 25, 2024 (edited) @AndrewPiper I’m assuming you are talking ‘soft releases’. The better ones use a gasket on the screw thread to lock them down. Lots of choices and options and people will have their favorites.. choose what feels good to you. Personally I like Komaru and have a number of them in various finishes and metals. Good luck on your search! . Edited August 25, 2024 by RMF

LikameLeica Posted September 1, 2024 Share #6 Posted September 1, 2024 5 hours ago, tributr said: Soft releases are silly and unnecessary and they will fall off no matter what. imo they ruin the feel of the shutter button. I don't know on the M11, maybe the feel isnt the same, but on the M10R it ruins the experience. If you are set on getting these things then just get a pack of 100 of really cheap ones on ebay that are compatible with Leica M and just put a new one on when they fall off. They did improve the crappy wobbly button on my Fuji when I had one, but when I put it on my Leica I immediately removed it and threw it in the trash. Back then I was using Lensmate but I don't think they make Leica buttons. If you buy any button it may cause the M to misfire. You'll press and it won't do anything. If you start fiddling with it too much it may cause problems with the shutter button. I've seen people trying to screw them in so tight they've broken their shutter buttons. I purchased a Leica soft release and have it about 1 year. I constantly feel like I have to check it and make sure it is tight. It has fallen off twice. Once in my camera bag (thank goodness) and the second time was yesterday while walking in city. When I realized it was no longer there, I retraced my steps and luckily found it about a 100 meters up the road (very lucky). I love the feel of have the soft release, but beginning to rethink whether I will leave it on the camera or not. I used the camera for about 1 year without it and survived. PS: I also have lost my diopter in the past and had to replace it with a new one. I promise I am a very careful user of the camera, not careless in anyway.
