How was your white balance set for this Dave?

I have learned that the "sunny" balance gives me very yellow images (which have to be corrected in PS or other software). Unlike some, so far the AutoWhite has been very effective.

You can also post a lot larger, if you choose to - this one is only 64kb.

Hi Andy

WB set on auto using RAW and corrected in C1 which I am just getting used to. After RSP it is not so easy to finely adjust. Thanks for sizing tip I've got some more so will resize them before posting!!

I thought that this one might interest Ron as it is German registered and quite a long way from home for such an old car. It is of course an SS100 Jaguar, the SS coming from Swallow Sidecars as the company started by making sidecars for motorcycle combinations.

When I shot this image I did not use the moire button and was impressed at how well the radiator detail recorded without any moire filter.

Cheers, Dave

Look forward to these Dave.

I have just been through the process of setting up Capture 1 LE (which I am currently trying out and have been very impressed with.)

I have to say that the enclosed Colour Set Up pdf is very good indeed.

The max size for your images is 960 on the longest length and around 240kb tops.

Andy, you will see that I have put another up and resized and re-adjusted colour balance of this one but it is now too blue for my taste! The gravel outside Winchester Cathedral really is very golden yellow.........you know the sandy sort that makes a mess of your car mats after walking on it!

Yes I have been using C1 LE........fo me it doesn't quite have the fine adjustments possible with RSE, but I will persevere with it.

Cheers, Dave

Well, it's definitely bigger!

:)

There's like a yellow cawl over the whole image (and the one of the other Jag that you have posted) I can't quite work it out. It could just be the reflection of the very yellow gravel, you're right. Can you see it? I am not getting too much blue at all. I wonder what others are seeing? (I will have a look on an alternative Mac in a minute) Do you assign the sRGB profile to the files before uploading them?

Do you have any other shots from the same day that are not taken on this gravel? (email me one if you don't fancy sharing on the forum) I'd be interested to see one. Thanks

Have you calibrated your monitor recently?

(I have just been out into the garden with something colourful to check my set up (having played around with ColorSync profiles and work flows etc this morning.) This water can is bob-on for colour - it's sitting here next to the screen. RAW converted in C1LE, no PS adjustment, apart from converting to sRGB as the final step before Save for Web)

Andy,

Another image taken on the same day. Looks OK to me on both my screen and printed output! On the other hand my wife always reckons that I see colour in poster paints!!

Perhaps I'll stick to posting black and white images in future!

Your painted can image looks just great on my screen BTW. I must change that first image I posted today as the colour balance really offends my eye!

My screen, printer and camera are all set up for Adobe RGB (1998)

Cheers, Dave

Interesting how different people see things differently. Thanks for taking the trouble to post another.

There are a few of us off to Oulton Park tomorrow, so I'll see if there's a vintage Jag there for you (maybe even one of these ones? :) )

Hi Steve & Dave

My own DMR is back at Solms to get a dodgy component fixed and this was taken with the loan DMR provided by Leica UK. Guess what, my own DMR back came with firmware 1.2 and in formatting a card this afternoon I have only just noticed that the loan one is firmware 1.1!! Shouldn't make much difference as C1 can make up the difference but there we are.

This is the original shot before I "corrected" it to meet Andy's analysis of it being too yellow!
