Did Leica add a firmware update to permanently lock focus point, rather than it be just for one shot?  Then requiring a subsequent re locking for each exposure.

A permanent AF lock, on till cancelled makes far more sense, or rather is far more useful.  Being quicker and surer than manual for speed of.

If not, what is your preferred option of working?

Manual focus?

Yes, well, obviously…. !
In some instances that is not ergonomic though and rather slow. Low down, tripod.

moving the focus point around and keeping on one touching rather drains the battery more and moments can be missed.

I do ok, but wish they had added the feature.

What is wrong with halfbutton press and recompose? I find fiddling around with moving the focus point a pain in the backside And then there is tracking focus.

Each method has it’s own uses applicable. You are off the point.  Being, setting up for repeated shots without the need to refocus each subsequent shot.

manual is the only real option for that action.

autofocus and it staying put, for repeated shots till cancelled is not in the Leica minds….but it should be, it would be very useful.

nevertheless…the CL takes lovely photos.
