I just picked up my first M camera—an M3.  I am beyond excited.  It still is not in my hands, but it is on its way.  I am currently using the Q3, and before that the Q2, but I really want to go back to my roots and shoot some film.  Is there any way to accurately date an M3 by its serial number?  Mine is 986637.  Single Stroke.  Thanks in advance!

If you email info@leica-camera.com with a serial number query they may be able to give you the date it left the factory, and often its destination.

Thank you so much!  I did not realize that Leica would do this, but I am going to try write now and see if they can tell me anything.  Thanks again!

Well for the first date bring her flowers and do not be too pushy, and on later dates slowly aim for the first kiss. M3 is old scool so the probability of scoring on the first date is low. Make sure to pay for everything yourself. Be funny but not cheezy. And throw in a little German here and there, it is her old country.

I’m not looking for a kiss.  I just want her to work!
