Dr. G Posted August 23, 2024 Share #1 Posted August 23, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) When using face and eye detection in AF-S or AF-C on the SL3 is the camera supposed to be finding the nearest subject/eye initially when acquiring focus? If I’m taking shots of two or three people together and stopping down to get a better depth of field it seems like I’m often double checking to see that the camera is locked onto the eye closest to the front of the focal plane. I’ve had a few shots where the eye of the person standing slightly closer to me was out of focus but the other eyes are sharp. I would assume the camera would choose the closest eye/subject first, but I’m not sure if that is actually happening. Advertisement Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Hi Dr. G, Take a look here SL3 Face/Eye detect AF question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Photoworks Posted August 23, 2024 Share #2 Posted August 23, 2024 Then you have more people in the frame you have to pick the box to be active, and then it should focus on the eyes. It is not the one that is closest to the camera. There is room for improvement.
