HpS Posted August 18, 2024 Share #1  Posted August 18, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Accidentally selected the Expressive (Exps) photo style on a shoot. Naturally wondering how one can undo or correct the effect or, not at all. Shot RAW on D-LUX7 Edited August 18, 2024 by HpS Addendum
Advertisement Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Hi HpS, Take a look here How to undo/reverse effect filter after shoot. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted August 18, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted August 18, 2024 In OOC JPG you cannot undo this, in raw it is not an issue.

They say everything becomes simple when explained. So how is it done exactly. Would you happen to know. Thank you.

No effect style affects RAW file to the point of irreversibility. Almost every camera setting (except lens DoF and/or too slow shutter blur) is reversible on your raw files. Thank you for replying. Actually I never use any digital effects available in my digital cameras. I am an old school 35mm and large format film photographer and have really only used filters on B&W and rarely. Began using digital since 2009, mostly RAW, mainly for resolution and quality, and to tweak colours only to maintain the natural look and feel. Happy to know the steps if any, to the undoing. jaapv Posted August 18, 2024 Share #7  Posted August 18, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) No that is irreversible. You can try to mitigate by sophisticated postprocessing. One of the consequences of shooting JPG only. There is only so much that you can do afterwards.

I believe what they are trying to say is that if you choose the expressive setting, it should only be applied to the JPEG. When you open up the RAW file in a RAW processing program, it should not have any effects applied. What program are you using to adjust your photos? If the effect is automatically applied in your RAW processor, you might need to choose a different profile (if you are using Photoshop or Lightroom, choosing Adobe Standard should normalize the file). jaapv Posted August 18, 2024 Share #9  Posted August 18, 2024 Check in Photoshop Preferences --> File Handling whether you have enabled "Automatically open supported Jpegs and HEICs with settings" If so, change

Understand now after reading your response. I use Photoshop. Before attempting anything on my own had posted here to try and get a handle on this before I start. Thank you Stuart.
