Jonathan Levin Posted August 17, 2024 Share #1 Posted August 17, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) So I wanted to test my other new CFe an SD cards before a project. The cards that were in the camera had pictures and the last recorded image was #77 on both cards. Shutting down camera, removing cards, and put in the two formatted cards. Camera on, take a test photo and the starting number is 1, when I thought it would register as #78. Any idea as to what I probably did wrong?
Advertisement Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Hi Jonathan Levin, Take a look here Switching cards starts image count at 1????. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Posted August 18, 2024 Share #2 Posted August 18, 2024 When you insert a freshly formatted card the counter is reset to 1 but the file number itself isn’t.
Jonathan Levin Posted August 18, 2024 Author Share #3 Posted August 18, 2024 TwentyEighth, Thank you so much! Yes that is indeed the case! Why the picture count on camera would be different than the ACTUAL picture count embeded in file is beyond me. But thanks for pointing this out. Well it’s different because let’s say you took 100 photos on a freshly formatted card. The camera is simply saying you have 100 photos on the card. For example, the 8th photo will be displayed as 8/100 and so on. It has nothing to do with the file numbering which corresponds to the number of shutter actuations if you haven’t deleted any photos in-camera. The total number of images taken by the camera is utterly irrelevant for the content of the card. You want to know the number taken and remaining on the card.
