plasticman Posted February 7, 2008 Share #21 Posted February 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here is another shot from the same roll. This was inside, but the lady was sitting partially in the sun. This film is sharp, like Kodak says, but also seems to have a great dynamic range. This is just straight out of the scanner, cropped slightly to straighten it and a resize to web size. If you have a quick Internet connection, here is the full size scan of this negative, saved as a quality 8 jpeg. It is about 3mb. http://www.robsteve.com/LUF/AgnesLRG.jpg Rob - great shots, both of these! Hard to believe it's 400.
Advertisement Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Hi plasticman, Take a look here NEW T-MAX 400 film . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LeonardT Posted February 8, 2008 Share #22 Posted February 8, 2008 My dealer suspects it could be a promotional gimmick by Kodak; his question: has someone tested it against the 'normal' TMax?Fair enough, I said I would ask the Forum members. I am looking forward to your opinions. The LHSA Viewfinder, just released yesterday, has a practical test report of the new film by Tom Abrahamsson. You can ask him directly. LeonardT Posted February 8, 2008 Share #23 Posted February 8, 2008 While searching for some chemicals I noticed Freestyle Photographic has both the old and the new Tmax 400 listed on their site. Freestyle Photographic Supplies Thanks, Robert. I have some coming in. I should have it on the 12th. Len
boilerdoc Posted February 12, 2008 Share #24 Posted February 12, 2008 Great news! I've had this on order since October and used a roll at the LHSA meeting then. It is truly a great film and will be a superb compliment to the M7. Steve
octo Posted February 17, 2008 Share #25 Posted February 17, 2008 Thank you all: I will try and find a supplier in France or in Europe a bit more aware of what he supplies.
octo Posted February 17, 2008 Share #26 Posted February 17, 2008 Your dealer sound like a daft fool. Does he think that it's impossible to improve on the T-Max introduced in the 1980's? Many people John Sexton, Sandy King etc have published their thoughts, most feel its a lot better than the old emulsion. here is a discussion. View Camera article on TMY versus TMY-2 - APUG Mark Thanks for both the heads-up and the link. I am running through the old TMax I mistakenly got. BTW, what does the Y in TMY stands for? christer Posted February 17, 2008 Share #27 Posted February 17, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for both the heads-up and the link. I am running through the old TMax I mistakenly got. BTW, what does the Y in TMY stands for? i think y stands for 400; just like x stands for 100 and z for 3200. at least on kodak films. the romans used v for 5 and x for 10 etc,
lincoln_m Posted March 22, 2008 Share #28 Posted March 22, 2008 Hi, Good News for UK TMAX lovers. I was trying to find a UK supplier as many still have the old pic of the TMAX400 box. Kodak told me to call Camulet or Photologic both as clueless as Kodak online UK . So I decided to order from Photoglossy whom I usually use. I ordered 4 rolls thinking I would probably be getting old stock. The sent me an e-mail saying they would ship 3 as they were out of stock. 3 of the old style arrived. Today in the post I have received the last film which is now the new TMAX 400. So it seems I have used up the old stuff and now new TMAX400 should be the new "World's sharpest". For UK guys contact PhotoGlossy.com Now I have to finish my old TMAX400 roll before I can start on the World's Sharpest. Regards, Lincoln

andybarton Posted March 22, 2008 Share #31 Posted March 22, 2008 No, it is true. It was announced a couple of months ago and is clearly only just getting through to the retail channels now.
Philip Freedman Posted March 22, 2008 Share #32 Posted March 22, 2008 Andy Nice shots of Venice. What colour film did you use? (I am getting back to film after a few years of digital - the M8 is so clunky compared with a proper M). Philip
andybarton Posted March 22, 2008 Share #33 Posted March 22, 2008 Thanks Philip These were all taken with Astia, most of which I have processed myself. (Now, back to the TMax )
peter_n Posted March 22, 2008 Share #34 Posted March 22, 2008 Here in the US on the left side Freestyle has been stocking this stuff for a while now. I received 20 rolls from them a couple weeks ago. On the right side B&H is not yet stocking it in 35mm as Kodak are supplying it on a stock expired basis and B&H haven't yet exhausted their stock of "old" TMax400 yet. There has been quite a bit of discussion of this film over on the RFF, including comparisons of "old" and "new" TMax. Kent10D Posted March 22, 2008 Share #36 Posted March 22, 2008 New T-Max in 135 format is just starting to hit the shelves here in Japan. The 120 stuff got here first, and I have already shot and developed a couple of rolls in Xtol (have another 20 rolls in the fridge). So far I like what I'm seeing! Of course that's medium format, and the real test will be the smaller 135 format. But so far I think we have a very nice new B&W film, judging from the samples posted here as well as my own admittedly limited experience. In this age of everything-new-is-digital I find that very reassuring.
chilihead Posted March 22, 2008 Share #37 Posted March 22, 2008 I have been waiting for months - I would like to know why they would announce it so far in advance - and no film in sight!! Kodak should realize they have some very loyal Konsumers and not to play games with them - we only have so much patience.
octo Posted March 25, 2008 Share #38 Posted March 25, 2008 I ordered mine from mx2 and got them albeit with a slight 2 weeks delay, but they had the courtesy to call me and let me know about it.
