I purchased an old Leica S2-P. Its working but it shows a firmware ver 0.0.0.0.

I tried to download the latest firmware 1.4.0.0 but the camera doesn't recognize the file and nothing happens when i turn it on.

Was thinking that maybe i need to first use an older FW, but i can only find this one: FW_S2_1_4_0_0.S2

Thanks for any help.

A few suggestions. I have an S-006, not an S2, so the firmware update instructions might be different.

Are you sure that you copied the file to the root folder of your CF card? The camera won't see it if it's in a subfolder (DCIM, etc.). I would also remove any SD card, just in case.

Is the firmware file zipped (has a ".zip" file extension)? If so you need to unzip it first.

Have you tried going through the setup menu to the firmware section? I don't think that the camera will launch the updater automatically.

@Att1 The instructions above are clear that the file should be a .S2 file.   Try the red dot forum list, I just downloaded the S2 firmware and it is a .S2 file - not a .FW or .upd file.
