I tried several times with the same result. However, I was able to download and install the firmware through the Leica FOTOS app. This shakes my confidence in Leica. This is a bug in a fix for a problem (overwriting images) that should never have happened. Same problem here. Might be deluding myself, but I thought most firmware releases had either an underscore or double underscore between the camera type "Q3" and the release number "205". This has a hyphen. Advertisement Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Hi Foxfan100, Take a look here Q3 new firmware 2.0.5. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
batian Posted August 8, 2024 Share #22 Posted August 8, 2024 It worked for me using the app... did not work with the file on the SD card...

DFConn Posted August 8, 2024 Share #24 Posted August 8, 2024 I have the same issue with the message that there's no Firmware file on the SD card when there is...I got rid of the Photos app as I don't use it...waiting for Leica to fix the issue... Confirming that renaming the file to q3_205.lfu let's the camera pick it up and run the update as normal via SD card.
MindsEye Posted August 8, 2024 Share #26 Posted August 8, 2024 I used the U.S. link that Leica emailed to me but same issue with firmware not found on the card. I don't mind doing it with FOTOS but I'm going to wait a few days and make sure there aren't any problems with the update.

ChrisQ3 Posted August 8, 2024 Share #30 Posted August 8, 2024 Worked fine using the FOTO App, but camera couldn’t find the update on the SSD using the original upgrade method…. Doh…
Le Chef Posted August 8, 2024 Share #31 Posted August 8, 2024 Same here - Doesn't work. Presumably Leica in their infinite wisdom will provide an update...
MatthewCrez Posted August 8, 2024 Share #32 Posted August 8, 2024 Updated didn't work via SD Card solution confirmed: I renamed the file to q3_205.lfu instead of using a q3-204.Ifu and it worked. Basically change the dash "-" into an underscore "_" and my Q3 was able to read the update off the SD card. I hope this helps. 1
Le Chef Posted August 8, 2024 Share #33 Posted August 8, 2024 The _ is the key. Change the name of the file to q3_205.lfu and it works without having to use the app.
SLamb Posted August 8, 2024 Share #34 Posted August 8, 2024 (edited) Updated via Fotos The problem with function 2 button going back to the default of switching between photo and video, even after reloading profiles with it set to AF Lock, still remains. It's been there for many months so obviously Leica doesn't feel it was important enough to be included in the firmware big fixes. The flashing in the EVF when set to 120Hz seems to have been fixed. It would be useful if Leica stated what has been fixed rather than putting the onus on users to test everything. I had seven pictures on the memory card that I hadn't yet transferred to my phone via Fotos. Tried transferring after the firmware update and get a message stating there was an error. The transfer never actually started. I took a new picture and that downloaded OK, so it's just pictures on the card taken before the firmware update that cannot be transferred. Edited to add that whereas in the previous firmware whatever number profile you had set it would show that number on the quick menu next to the person icon, it now doesn't show the number. So, if you make a change to a profile, whereas in the previous firmware version you could tell because the profile number disappeared, you now have no visual indication that you have changed a setting from the ones set in the chosen profile. Nice one Leica, very clever. Fix a big and add one too! Edited August 8, 2024 by SLamb

safesurfer Posted August 8, 2024 Share #37 Posted August 8, 2024 (edited) Udating via FOTOS app and restoring my profiles worked without any issues here. Except of the issue with the counter of the DNG-files which startet agin with 1 after the upgrade. But learned about the workaround in the German forum and so I'm fine again. M11 for me Posted August 8, 2024 Share #39 Posted August 8, 2024 Here it does not show the new FW in the Fotos App. Mabe in a few hours or days. But with the download and corrected filename it worked fine.
Robins213 Posted August 8, 2024 Share #40 Posted August 8, 2024 Be sure to change the - to an underscore or the update won’t show up for the camera.
