"Lens attachment failed" error message after firmware update of Vario-Elmarit 90-280 on S5IIX body

I just performed an firmware update of the SL Vario-Elmarit 90-280 on Lumix S5IIX body from version 2.0 to 3.0 and at the end of the procedure the lens stabilisation started doing repetitive noises and eventually the camera displayed an error message "Lens attachment failed. Please make sure the lens is attached correctly".

So I switched the camera off, re-attached the lens, switched on, checked the firmware - it is upgraded to 3.0 but lens stabilisation keeps doing those repetitive "clung" noises and eventually shows the same error message.

I tried to attach another lens and everything works just fine, but the camera does not want to work with the Vario-Elmarit 90-280.

Is there anyone who already have the current firmware on 90-280 and also have S5II body to try them together? I suspect there is a bug in the lens firmware

I cleaned the contacts on lens and camera body, I tried to switch off the camera stabilisation but no change.

You probably need to update the lens on a Leica body.

Maybe, but it caused no problem with Vario-Elmarit 24-70/2.8. Today I will have the chance to test the lens on SL-2 body to see if it works at all.

Update: Interesting yet not shocking conclusion. The lens works just fine on Leica SL2 body and after that when mounted back on Lumix S5IIX it works fine too. It seems there is one final validating step necessary for the firmware update inside the lens and for some reason it could not be performed on Lumix body and it needed to be mounted on Leica body for the final validation touch. Definitely a bug. Firmware update of Vario-Elmarit 24-70/2.8 on the same Lumix S5IIX body was flawless.
