BWColor Posted July 26, 2024 Share #1 Posted July 26, 2024 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I have two 27” BenQ PD2700U monitors and the latest 16” MacBook Pro. I just purchased a Colorite Display Plus HL and now I’m a bit confused. The Apple and the 27” monitors are very different technologies. The BenQ is basically a mat screen, 100% sRGB, 350 nit maximum output low end monitor. The Apple is a glossier micro-led, P3 color, 1000 nit micro led screen. Images look very different on the Macbook when compared to the Benq. Should I rely on the colors from the Apple, or the Benq? I doubt that prints will have the vibrancy of the glossy Apple screen. jaapv Posted July 26, 2024 Share #2 Posted July 26, 2024 Glossy screens have always been bad news for photo editing. BenQ has always had an excellent reputation, but this is a simple screen. I swear by Eizo CG and CS Adobe RGB screens and Xrite calibrating.
PCPix Posted July 28, 2024 Share #3 Posted July 28, 2024 (edited) I’ve found that the Mac screens ‘look’ fantastic and are normally set to a very bright level by default. Unrelated to colour calibration - and an easy thing to try - simply dialling down the brightness to half way (or maybe one click above half way) dampens down the ‘Disneychrome’ effect and brings the screen image closer to the reality of what a print might actually look like.
