Refer post #305, above. Everything else is speculation. Fortunately the M240/246/262 batteries seem to last for many years before degrading, and have such a capacity in use that they will offer days or weeks of use between charges.

I used one battery in a 3 week trip to Europe in 2024, and still came home with charge remaining (M262).

In your shoes, I would buy an M246 without hesitation, provided it came with at least two known to be good condition batteries.

All the best!

I have asked Leica for an official statement about the situation. Here is their reply.

Currently only very limited quantities, full capacity awaited in spring 2026.

In the same message they pointed out, that batteries for all other digital M-cameras (M8 / M9 / M10 / M11 including derivatives ) are available.

Hi, I’m joining the discussion and concur with the above. I recently spoke with a Leica NA representative today about a separate issue with my M240, and they informed me that the Battery is expected to be resolved in spring 2026. I’ve marked my calendar. 👍
