Fortunately the M240/246/262 batteries seem to last for many years before degrading, and have such a capacity in use that they will offer days or weeks of use between charges. I used one battery in a 3 week trip to Europe in 2024, and still came home with charge remaining (M262). In your shoes, I would buy an M246 without hesitation, provided it came with at least two known to be good condition batteries. I recently spoke with a Leica NA representative today about a separate issue with my M240, and they informed me that the Battery is expected to be resolved in spring 2026.
