vikasmg Posted July 13, 2024 Share #1 Posted July 13, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) This lens has a remarkable range of focal lengths. Inevitably there will be trade offs but I’m wondering whether the higher resolution sensors of the SL2 and SL3 show up too many weaknesses or is it still fairly good. Advertisement Posted July 13, 2024 Posted July 13, 2024 Hi vikasmg, Take a look here Has anyone tried a Lumix 28-200 on a Leica SL2 or SL3?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rcusick Posted July 13, 2024 Share #2 Posted July 13, 2024 I’m interested as well. They seem to be only sold as a kit right now unfortunately.

vikasmg Posted July 14, 2024 Author Share #5 Posted July 14, 2024 (edited) Yes, that it is. But for me, I found, while using my wife’s 24-200 Nikon lens on her Z7ii I was often using f5.6 to f11. Most of my use is likely going to be outdoors in daylight or in at least moderately well lit indoors. Welcome, dear visitor! midnhtsun Posted July 16, 2024 Share #7 Posted July 16, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm currently using it on an SL2-S. My main reason for getting it was to have a lightweight travel lens. I've been using it for about two months now. I took it on vacation to Greece, and it came in handy. I was happy to have it for the flexibility. However, by the end of the trip, I found that I was opting for one of my primes instead. For macro, it's a bit meh to me. Looking at the pictures I have taken with it, I find that I'm rarely impressed by it compared to using the Sigma 105, Lumix 100, and Q2 macro I was consistently happier with the images I got from them. That being said, it's nice having it available. The autofocus is fast and consistently accurate. As for the higher aperture, I think the SL2-s handles it very well, so I don't feel like it's an issue, and the bokeh on portraits is good. Overall, it is a really good lens, but I find it a bit boring to use. In contrast, I recently rented the Leica Vario Elmarit 24-90mm, which felt fun to use. It felt great in my hands, and I was blown away by the images I got with it. But maybe that isn't a fair comparison; for about 1k, the lens offers a lot. Welcome, dear visitor! KenLW Posted July 30, 2024 Share #8 Posted July 30, 2024 I'm also considering getting this lens for my SL2 for my upcoming trip to Japan. The alternative is to get something like 70-200 F4 to cover the telephoto range and a few M and SL primes for wider ends. I feel like in most cases all you need is a 35mm (or 50mm if you are a 50mm person) but occasionally, you want to take that far away shot or some macro and this lens would be handy! The lens appears to be very good and if you're happy with the 7.1 maximum aperture at the 200mm end, it's fine. I find I've seldom needed to go over 90 to 100mm indoors and it's certainly possible to shoot handheld. The lens has become a regular fixture on my camera. huwm Posted August 23, 2024 Share #11 Posted August 23, 2024 I’ve just acquired one for this years Japan trip to complement my Q3 Last time I took the 24-105 and Q2 and was perfectly happy tbh Slight concern regarding the aperture but as its going to be a daylight camera out hiking it’s not really a problem, the Q3 covers everything else
